The National Indigenous Fisheries Institute is engaging Indigenous groups and communities in marine spatial planning discussions in order to gather information about their technical capacity to meaningfully participate in related activities.

A discussion paper has been prepared to help with this engagement. It explains in general terms what marine spatial planning is all about – and the potential technical roles and tools that may be involved. This information may also be found in the marine spatial planning section of this website.

The discussion paper poses a number of questions to help Indigenous groups and communities assess their present technical capacity – and prepare for upcoming workshops.

A workshop schedule with dates and locations will be posted shortly.
